“Like life itself, street art is an ephemeral moment of creative energy that quickly bursts and then dissipates in time.” John Fekner.

......sometimes pursued decay. …Street art & preservation
Because of the conditions it is displayed in, this art is incredibly vulnerable. Some artists pursue decay, while others just take it philosophically or as an unavoidable circumstance. The images, after all, are being meticulously collected.
But encountering street artworks in real life is a very different experience from seeing them on pictures. The good ones really make you feel like you are coming across living creatures, inhabitants of unexpected places in the urban landscape. A tree has eyes, a door smiles at you, little people sit on lamp posts, tiny saloon doors tell you mice are dancing inside, and Alf sits on the dock drinking beer and discussing low-brow literature with Bukowski.
For these and other far less romantic reasons, some works are being kept and protected. But should this happen at all? And is the reality of this practice any close to Ethics and responsible professional preservation?-tweets-
